BSOD due to Killer e2200 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller driver. Before going through with an alternative driver update, I`d like to hear if anyone had a.

i tried downloading and installing a new device driver from the killer website for my e2200 ethernet adapter on my gigabit z87-g45 motherboard, and after i rebooted my pc, my ethernet card shows a yellow exclamation mark in win 8 device manager and will no longer allow drivers to be loaded for it.
checking the properties in device manager shows this error: the device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (code 31)
i've tried uninstalling the drivers and re-installing the drivers that came on the original cd with my motherboard, and i've tried re-downloading the drivers from the killer web site and nothing works. i've also flashed my motherboard bios to the newest version and that didn't help either.
any thoughts on how this broke and how to fix it? i've never had a device driver lock up a piece of hardware. i'm lost and now have no internet on my desktop pc.

I've read about some issues with WiFi issues after the Windows 10 update, but mine seems to be a bit different.

After Windows 10 'reinstalled' itself during the update to build 10130, I noticed I had no internet connectivity. When I run the troubleshooter, Windows claims there may be a problem with the Ethernet driver.

'There might be a problem with the driver for the ethernet adapter.'

'Try these repairs as an administrator'

The repair fails.

I've had zero issues in this area prior to the upgrade, so I'm afraid some compatibility has broken. And it's been quite a pain to troubleshoot since I cannot access the internet.

I've uninstalled the driver, downloaded the latest Windows 8.1 ethernet controller driver from the manufacturer's website, and then installed it on my PC. The same issue still persists. Restarting my router also has no affect and my other ethernet-connected devices are having no problems.

I'm using an 'MSI Z97 Gaming 7' motherboard, with the 'Killer LAN' 'Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)'.
